Downstairs Ceramics Studio Warranty

Thank you for choosing Downstairs Ceramics Studio! We are proud to offer high-quality, handcrafted ceramic pieces that are made with love and care. Due to the midfire schedule of our kiln house (Clayroom SF) at cone 5-6 the clay bodies do not always fully vitrify and can cause the vessels to weep.  Please take care as to test the vessels for water retention.  We recommend a barrier between the vessel and any sensitive surfaces it may come on contact with.  

This warranty covers all ceramic pieces purchased from Downstairs Ceramics Studio, effective [Dec 14, 2023]. Please note that this warranty applies only to the original purchaser and is not transferable.

What is Covered:

• Defects in materials and workmanship: This includes cracks, chips, breaks, or other imperfections that are not the result of normal wear and tear or misuse.

• Glazing defects: This includes defects that affect the functionality or aesthetics of the glaze, such as uneven application, bubbling, or cracking.

• Leaks: This covers any ceramic piece that is not watertight as intended. 

What is Not Covered:

• Normal wear and tear: This includes minor scratches, chips, or fading that occur over time with normal use.

• Damage caused by misuse: This includes dropping, hitting, or improper cleaning of the ceramic piece.

• Damage caused by accidents: This includes damage from fires, floods, earthquakes, or other unforeseen events.

• Damage caused by extreme temperatures or harsh chemicals: This includes exposure to heat sources like ovens or microwaves, or harsh chemicals like bleach or drain cleaners.

• Products purchased from unauthorized retailers: Downstairs Ceramics Studio is not responsible for any warranty claims on products purchased from unauthorized retailers.

Our Liability:

Downstairs Ceramics Studio's sole liability under this warranty is to, at its option, repair or replace the defective ceramic piece. We are not responsible for any incidental or consequential damages arising from the use of the ceramic piece.

Customer Responsibilities:

To receive warranty service, the customer must:

• Provide proof of purchase, such as a receipt or invoice.

• Notify Downstairs Ceramics Studio of the defect within 14 days of discovering it.

• Return the defective ceramic piece to Downstairs Ceramics Studio at the customer's expense.

Limitation of Remedies:

The customer's sole and exclusive remedy under this warranty is repair or replacement of the defective ceramic piece. Downstairs Ceramics Studio is not responsible for any other damages, including incidental or consequential damages.

Governing Law:

This warranty shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of laws provisions.

Entire Agreement:

This warranty constitutes the entire agreement between the parties with respect to the ceramic piece and supersedes all prior or contemporaneous communications, representations, or agreements, whether oral or written.

Severability:

If any provision of this warranty is held to be invalid or unenforceable, such provision shall be struck and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

• Please note that all ceramic pieces are fired at ClayroomSF, a third-party studio. While we stand behind the quality of our work, any firing issues or defects that arise during the firing process will be handled by ClayroomSF under their own warranty policy.

• We encourage you to handle your ceramic pieces with care to ensure their longevity. Please follow any care instructions provided with your purchase.
